Scottsboro Boys
On March 25, 1931, nine young black men were pulled from a train in Paint Rock, Alabama and accused of raping two white women. These men would become known as the “Scottsboro Boys” and their case would have far reaching effects. The second trial of the “Scottsboro Boys” case was held in Decatur. Rare photos from that case can be viewed at the Morgan County Archives (624 Bank Street), located in downtown Decatur.
