The north region of Alabama continues to be some of the best fishing in the country. This year is no different with the Decatur, Alabama region leading the way. The Catmasters, one of the leading catfish tournament trails in the county have teamed up with Decatur to create what is sure to become one of the premier catfishing events of the year.
Recreational catfishing over the last several years has enjoyed staggering growth. With well over 8 million anglers now targeting catfish, it has quickly become one of the top segments of the 50 billion dollar recreational fishing industry.
“We are very grateful to Decatur for their support and partnership,” Stated Catmaster’s tournament director and co-founder Brian St. Ama. “Like all Catmaster events, it is our continuing objective to elevate our events and to promote the sport of catfishing by offering our anglers, our event partners and area hosts the best events possible.”
The upcoming Catmaster’s Classic is a unique 3 day event that will host hundreds of anglers from around the country competing for cash and prizes worth up to and well over $100,000. Day one, half the competing anglers will be fishing on Lake Guntersville, while the other half will compete on Wilson Lake. Day 2 the angler fields will switch lake locations. The top 50% of all those that had taken part in the first 2 days, will than compete on Lake Wheeler for the Catmasters Classic top spot.
Weigh-ins will take place each day at all lakes. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to come be part of this great event and see some of these monster size fish being weighed in by some of the country’s best anglers.
