Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is Alabama’s oldest and largest national refuge. Public hunting on Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is permitted on approximately 18,000 acres. Specific hunting dates are established each year for squirrel, raccoon, possum, rabbit, quail and deer. Hunting is allowed Monday- Saturday.
